Facilities Personnel

Facilities personnel - superintendents, facilities managers, custodians, anyone dealing with cleaning supplies - are instrumental to the Healthy Schools Program for two reasons:

  • The bulk of chemicals used in schools are not limited to laboratory chemicals but also chemicals found in cleaning supplies, landscaping and maintenance products; and
  • Facilities personnel are involved on many levels with chemicals while executing their duties.

 

Therefore, it is important that all personnel be trained on proper chemical management. Furthermore it is essential that communication between teachers, administrators and facilities is frequent and fluent. This is vital in the prevention of improper chemical usage, storage, and/or disposal.
