Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (H2E) Technology Demonstration Project

Applications for the Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (H2E) Technology Demonstration Project are being accepted through November 1, 2004. Technology demonstration projects are effective means for addressing the concerns that companies have on the complexity and compatibility of innovative pollution prevention (P2) technologies. Demonstration projects additionally promote P2 technology diffusion within an industry by providing the specific "how to" information necessary for the technology's implementation. The goal of the H2E Technology Demonstration Project is to encourage greater adoption of innovative P2 technologies and practices among healthcare providers.

For a limited time, the Environmenteal Science and Services Division is offering matching funds to the Michigan healthcare providers and healthcare technical assistance providers partnering with a healthcare facility or association that are interested in implementing innovative but commercially available pollution prevention technologies. Up to $22,000 in one-time matching funds will be made available for selected projects with the potential to achieve measurable reductions in waste generation, enhance process efficiency, and improve overall business profitability within the industry. Projects must be transferable within the healthcare industry.

Eligible applicants may apply for the funds by submitting a complete H2E Technology Demonstration Project application by November 1, 2004. Projects addressing significant or long standing pollution prevention needs within the healthcare industry and projects having support from other healthcare providers in general are encouraged. A majority of the funds available under this program is dedicated to qualifying healthcare institutions.
