P2 Partnership Mission:
To enhance and increase the practice of pollution prevention in Michigan through cooperative and collaborative efforts that maximize pollution prevention services and activities.
P2 Partnership Objectives:
- Develop and maintain a working partnership through which the partners create and strengthen existing voluntary and cooperative approaches to achieve pollution prevention.
- Establish effective communications and enhanced information exchange between LHEDs and the DEQ on pollution prevention policy, regulatory integration issues, training opportunities, and technical assistance information and programs.
- Strengthen pollution prevention education and awareness programs to enhance public perception and recognition of pollution prevention opportunities.
- Provide technical assistance to the regulated community to facilitate the incorporation and integration of pollution prevention practices and technologies.
- Work collaboratively to integrate pollution prevention principles into DEQ and LHED environmental regulatory programs.
Michigan's LHEDs and the DEQ recognize that pollution prevention is critical to their mission to promote a healthy environment. They further believe that the partnership will benefit environmental quality protection programs by improving service delivery to the community and promoting innovative programs. The partnership will maximize the impact of participating agencies' services with the limited resources available and will promote participation in pollution prevention efforts throughout the regulated community and the general public.
