The  National Renewable Energy Laboratory  offers a collection of case studies in one publication, "Electricity When and Where You Need It: From the Sun." The publication highlights photovoltaics as a cheap and reliable way to get things done on farms and ranches, and includes chapters on pumping water, and power for buildings.

 

" Solar-Powered Dairy Offers Case Study for Incentives ," by staff of Renewable Energy Access. This February 2006 article discusses how a goat farm in North Carolina received multiple incentives for installing a solar thermal system in their dairy operations, and includes links for more information on state and federal incentives.
