Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program Mission and Goals

Mission of the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) is to develop and promote a recognized, voluntary, proactive environmental assurance program, targeted to the agricultural industry, which ensures that producers are engaging in cost-effective pollution prevention practices and are in compliance with environmental regulations.

The MAEAP is an education-based approach to achieve environmental goals:

  • Solve environmental pollution problems
  • Prevent pollution at its source
  • Maintain and enhance natural resources
  • Monitor and record changes in producers management practices
  • Provide incentives for participation
  • Encourage sharing of technological information
  • Reward accomplishment through award recognition
