Workshop Information

WORKSHOP #8:

 

The Michigan Business Pollution Prevention Partnership conducted its eighth member workshop on May 18, 2005. The workshop was held at the offices of Cascade Engineering located in Grand Rapids, Michigan,  and hosted by Ms. Kelley Losey.

 

The workshops are typically hosted by a volunteering partner and scheduled speakers consisting of participating members or individuals who are affiliated with a member company.

 

The workshop agenda included; “Cascade’s Waste Reduction Team – Supporting Company Wide Sustainability” (Chuck Ammond – Cascade Engineering), “Recreational Initiatives” (including Michigan Turfgrass Environmental Stewardship Program, State Parks Stewardship Initiative, and MI Clean Marinas Program – Karen Edlin/Jeff Spencer – MDEQ),   “Pollution Prevention at Oetiker” (Ron Blouw – Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber), “How Good is Your Business Continuity Plan?” (Sam Seabright – Siemens VDO Automotive), and “Leveraging Lighting – Increasing Your Bottom Line while Enlightening the Environment” (Pat Cannon – Light Corporation).

WORKSHOP #7:

 

The Michigan Business Pollution Prevention Partnership conducted its seventh member workshop on October 12, 2004. The workshop was held at the offices of Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber located in Ada, Michigan, and hosted by Mr. Mike Winchester.

 

The workshops are typically hosted by a volunteering partner and scheduled speakers consisting of participating members or individuals who are affiliated with a member company.

 

The workshop agenda included five speakers discussing; an overview of the Environmental Science & Services Division (Kelie Bond – MDEQ), Green Architecture (Dan Durkee - Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber), Green Supplier Network (Bill Stough – Sustainable Research Group), TRI and Section 8.10 Reporting (Ruth Borgelt – MDEQ), and some innovative energy information (Patty Ireland – DTE Energy).

WORKSHOP #5:

 

The Michigan Business Pollution Prevention Partnership conducted its fifth member workshop on September 16, 2002. The workshop was held at the Campbell & Company facility located in Dearborn, Michigan, and hosted by Ms. Andrea Miller.

 

The workshops are typically hosted by a volunteering partner and scheduled speakers consisting of participating members or individuals who are affiliated with a member company.

 

The workshop agenda included five speakers discussing; a Service Company’s Environmental Journey (Campbell & Co.), Environmental Product Management (Siemens VDO Automotive), Clean Corporate Citizen/EMS Performance (Kelie Bond – MDEQ), Biobased Fuels and Used Oil Collection (Crystal Flash), and Compliance Requirements (CTI Associates).

WORKSHOP #3:

 

The Michigan Business Pollution Prevention Partnership conducted its third member workshop on September 25, 2002.  The workshop was held at the Yamaha Musical Products facility located in Grand Rapids, Michigan and hosted by Mr. Derek Humphries. 

 

These member workshops are typically hosted by a volunteering partner and scheduled speakers consisting of participating members or individuals who are affiliated with a member company. 

 

This workshop was viewed as informative and well worth the time of attendance by a number of the attendees.  The workshop agenda included four speakers discussing; Reclaiming Battery Components (Siemens Automotive), DTE Supply Chain Management and the Environment (Detroit Edison), Pollution Prevention Success Stories (Borg Warner Cooling Systems), and P2/Waste Minimization Program Overview (Consumers Energy).  Following the morning speakers session, the group was treated to lunch followed by a tour of Yamaha’s product assembly facility.

WORKSHOP #2:

 

The Michigan Business Pollution Prevention Partnership conducted its second workshop on February 27, 2002.

 

The workshop was held at the Pfizer Global Research and Development facility located in Ann Arbor. The workshops are typically hosted by MBP3 partners and consist of speakers who are currently partners or are affiliated with an MBP3 member.

 

This workshop has been hailed as another success with over 50 people in attendance. A total of 7 speakers presented on a variety of topics including Environmentally Preferred Purchasing (EPP), various pollution prevention initiatives, environmentally sensitive landscape design, electronics recycling, environmental cost accounting, and solvent recycling/reclaiming.
