The Climate Registry
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) participates on the Steering Committee for the development of the Climate Registry, a multi-state program designed to be an essential piece of infrastructure for the development of state and federal climate change programs.  Over thirty states in the United States and Mexico, as well as several Canadian provinces have joined the Climate Registry.

Midwestern Greenhouse Gas Reduction Accord
The State of Michigan joined the newly formed Midwestern Greenhouse Gas Reduction Accord in November of 2007.  The state is participating in this Midwest regional effort to establish greenhouse gas reduction targets and timeframes that are consistent with state policies; and to develop a market-based, multi-sector cap and trade program by November 2008.

Midwest Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership (MRCSP)
The MRCSP is one of seven regional partnerships established by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (DOE/NETL) to study carbon sequestration as one option for mitigating climate change.

Midwest Regional Climate GHS Emissions
The Midwest U.S. Greenhouse Gas Registry is a voluntary greenhouse gas registry for the States of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The design of the Midwest registry is driven by the principle objective of providing a credible greenhouse gas measurement and reporting platform to participating entities.

The Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX)
CCX, launched in 2003, is the world's first and North America's only active voluntary, legally binding integrated trading system to reduce emissions of all six major greenhouse gases, with offset projects worldwide.  Becoming a member of the CCX entails achieving a minimum six percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 2000 levels by 2010.
