To celebrate Michigan's vast and precious water resources, Governor Granholm has declared June 6 - June 14 as Water Week 2009. Events to celebrate Water Week are taking place throughout Michigan and are promoted through the combined efforts of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), along with the community collaboration of government, environmental groups, businesses, and citizens.
