The DEQ today announced it will be accepting applications for the 2013 Neighborhood Environmental Partners Awards. Facilities designated as Michigan Clean Corporate Citizens or participants in Michigan's Pollution Prevention Partnership Programs are eligible to apply. Applications will be accepted through May 15 and winners will be announced in July.

Two important guiding principles for the DEQ are leadership in environmental stewardship and partnership in economic development. The NEP Award exemplifies these principles, recognizing businesses and their partners for environmental stewardship activities in their communities.

To assist interested participants, the DEQ has developed a Web site that has informational materials on the program requirements, as well as ideas and illustrations of community-based environmental activities.

For more information on the NEP Awards, go to the DEQ Web site, www.michigan.gov/deqnep; or call the DEQ Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278.
