- Improve the quality of air, land and water resources
- Reduce untreated sewage discharges to waters of the state
- Employ effective risk management and increase redevelopment at Brownfield and other contaminated properties
- Increase recycling and reuse of waste
- Restore beneficial uses in the Great Lakes Areas of Concern
- Reduce uses and releases of mercury and other harmful contaminants
- Reduce the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species to and from the Great Lakes
