The Green Ribbon Schools program is a federal recognition award much like the Blue Ribbon Schools program. Green Ribbons are awarded to schools that show improvement across three pillars: Reduced Environmental Impact and Costs, Improved Health and Wellness, and Effective Environmental and Sustainability Education. The program is open to both public and private schools that teach any grades K-12.

The Green Ribbon Schools program is not yet widely known in Michigan. If you would like to spread the word, here are several documents to help along the way. They are General Information, Help Schools, Easing Participation, and Benefits.
