Nine Michigan companies earn environmental honors

The Department of Environmental Quality today announced nine facilities have earned the department's Neighborhood Environmental Partners Program Award for outstanding commitment to environmental community outreach.

 

DEQ Director Dan Wyant will recognize each of the recipients and their community partners at a series of award ceremonies throughout the state.

 

The NEP Program offers business and citizen groups the opportunity to work together to improve their neighborhoods, making them cleaner and more attractive places to live and work.

 

The companies receiving the award are:

 

  • Consumers Energy - J.R. Whiting Plant
  • Detroit Edison - River Rouge Power Plant
  • Dow Corning - Midland Site
  • Ford Motor Company
  • General Motors LLC
  • Holland Board of Public Works
  • Herman Miller Inc. - Grand Rapids
  • Pilgrim Manor Retirement Community - Grand Rapids
  • US Army Garrison - Detroit Arsenal
