DEQ announces Earth Day poster contest winners

As a part of this year's Department of Environmental Quality Earth Day Celebration, DEQ Director Dan Wyant will honor the winners of the 2012 Earth Day poster contest. The contest has raised environmental awareness to students Kindergarten through 5^th grade from all over Michigan by giving them an opportunity to design a poster explaining what they believe Earth Day is about.

This year, more than 4,500 posters were submitted and 12 winners were selected, 1^st and 2^nd place from each grade. Participant posters will decorate the walls of DEQ Headquarters at Constitution Hall in Lansing during Earth Day, and a ceremony will honor the 12 winners.
