RasterLogs
The Office of Oil, Gas, and Minerals has converted paper wire-line logs to digital files. The resulting digital files are called RasterLogs (digital ‘Raster' files of the geophysical ‘Logs'). The files, in various formats primarilly as TIFs, are sorted into the appropriate three digit API county code.
Digital Oil and Gas Permit Well Files
Oil and Gas Permit Well Files (WF) are the documents that are generated over the course of the life of a well - from application to plugging. The content of the file depends on the history and activities at the site. Currently the files for permits 1 to 60399 are available as PDFs sorted into the appropriate three digit API county code.
Drillers Logs
Oil and Gas Drillers' Logs (DL) are the formation description and formation top pick in an 8.5 by 11 format. The files are available as PDFs sorted into the appropriate three digit API county code.
Even though this is one of the most complete sets of records for Michigan, we know it is not complete. For a variety of reasons some records were not available for conversion. If you have any records that will add to this collection and are willing to share them, the OGS will scan the files and return the source documents and the associated digital files.
In a collection of this size and complexity there are inadvertent errors and omissions. Please report problems or discrepancies you encounter. Your help is appreciated. Your feedback will help improve the quality of the collection.
To get a complete set of Digital Records
If you want a set of digital files, please provide:
1) an external USB 2.0 hard disk with ~175 GB of available space;
