Need to Register a Large Quantity Withdrawal?

Agency: Environmental Quality

Need to register a large quantity withdrawal?

Registration of all large quantity water withdrawals is required in the State of Michigan.  Large quantity withdrawals are defined as having a pump(s) with a combined capacity of 70 or more gallons per minute.

Owners of all new or increased large quantity withdrawals are now required to gain authorization from the Department of Environmental Quality prior to beginning a withdrawal.  To apply for authorization, use of the online Water Withdrawal Assessment Tool by the prospective withdrawal owner is required.  For more information, and to begin the registration process, see:

Water Withdrawal Assessment Tool (WWAT).

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact anyone in the Water Use Program.
