Michigan State Government Recycling Program

Since 1988, Michigan State Government has been mandated to recycle office paper.  The program has changed over the years becoming an institutional part of working for state government.  Often the required paper recycling program has sparked voluntary additions by staff to recycle materials such as cell phones, food containers, batteries and more.  Setting an example for other institutions, businesses and communities in the state, the recycling program has inspired staff to become more involved in community recycling and household hazardous waste collection programs.
