    RETAP Mission and Goals

The mission of RETAP is to provide in-depth pollution prevention (P2) technical assistance to Michigan's small businesses and institutions.  Identify cost effective opportunities to reduce the volume of waste materials generated and the amount of energy and water consumed by industrial and commercial operations.  Facilitate the implementation of pollution prevention and energy efficiency opportunities.

The goal of RETAP is to achieve meaningful cost savings by Michigan businesses and institutions thru avoided waste generation, reduced water consumption, and more efficient energy usage by:

    • Providing free and confidential on-site P2 and energy assessment services to any small business and institution in Michigan.
    • Facilitating the adoption of P2 and energy efficiency by sharing information on recommended technologies and practices, while respecting the confidentiality of our customers, and
    • Providing information on financial resources available to businesses and institutions.
A critical objective of the program is to measure the effectiveness of RETAP services by estimating the potential impacts of RETAP recommendations, conducting follow-up surveys on our client implementation rates, and assisting clients in quantifying the impacts of their P2 and energy efficiency improvements.
