| Community Pollution Prevention Grants ProgramThe Community P2 Grants Program annually funds community based pollution prevention projects. The program seeks to bring communities together to achieve measurable waste reductions of pollutants using innovative sustainable pollution prevention practices.
The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is authorized under Public Act 384 as amended to provide matching grant funds to county governments, local health departments, municipalities, and regional planning agencies for the purpose of preventing pollution.
Pollution prevention is defined in Part 145 of Public Act 451 as amended. The definition of Pollution Prevention in Part 145 also references 42 USC 13102 and United States environmental protection agency's pollution prevention statement dated June 15, 1993.
Pollution prevention projects must focus on achieving measurable reductions in waste, have a local or regional focus, and result in long-term environmental improvements.
The DEQ will post a brief summary of new Requests for Proposals to this page and a link to the grant announcement.
