Program Overview

Pine Lodge Community Justice Center (CJC) is a low security placement servicing delinquent and neglected males between the ages of 15-21.

Pine Lodge CJC's major goal is to instill the importance of responsible behavior in all aspects of youths lives, especially education, employment, and relationships. Pine Lodge prepares youths for their return to a less structured setting in their home communities or an independent living setting.

Relationships

Youths are encouraged to develop positive relationships with family members, staff, peers, teachers, advocates, employers, and caseworkers through:

  • Home visits with family .
  • Treatment planning with youth, family, advocates.
  • Staff supervised group activities/outings.

Employment

  • Youths are required to secure and maintain employment within the community.
  • Onsite employment coordinator.
  • Utilization of MISTY services to develop partnerships with local businesses.
  • Employment training/services available through Michigan Works, Michigan Rehabilitation Services, and Youth Development Corporation.

Education

Pine Lodge offers a variety of educational opportunities. Youths are encouraged to make academic improvements using:

  • Onsite education coordinator.
  • High school and G.E.D. opportunities available through Lansing School District.
  • Vocational training available through Hill Center.
  • Secondary educational opportunities available through Lansing Community College Counseling.
  • Pine Lodge staff provide reality based counseling and crisis intervention.

  • Therapy and psychiatric services are available through Community Mental Health and Insight Recovery Center.
  • Youth with histories of substance abuse issues attend anonymous meetings within the community.
  • Mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Life Skills

Staff at Pine Lodge assist youth in the development of essential life skills in the areas of:

  • Money management.
  • Vehicles and driving.
  • Medicine and health.
  • Housing.
  • Personal paperwork.
  • Community resources.

Independent Living Opportunities

Pine Lodge works in conjunction with supervised independent living providers to provide transitional services to youth entering community based placements.

Specialized Staff

  • Staff trained in MACH 5 and Life Space Crisis Intervention.
  • Certified addiction counselor on staff.
  • Reintegration specialist on staff possessing a M.S.W.
