The Michigan Family Independence Agency (FIA), Office of Children and Adult Licensing issued an order of summary suspension and notice of intent to refuse to renew the license of Saginaw County child care center license of Marco Zendejas, who is the license holder for Snugglebunnies Child Care, 844 Tittabawassee, Saginaw, Michigan. This action resulted from a recent investigation of a complaint of the child care center.
Michigan law defines a child day care center as a facility, other than a private residence, which receives one or more preschool or school age children for periods of less than 24 hours a day, and at which the parents or guardians are not immediately available to the children. It includes a facility that provides care for not less than 2 consecutive weeks, regardless of the number of hours of care per day. The facility is generally described as a child care center, day care center, day nursery, nursery school, parent cooperative preschool, play group, or drop-in center.
The April 8, 2004, findings of the complaint investigation are:
- On or about March 31, 2004, a four-year-old child, while at Snugglebunnies Child Care center, is alleged to have been sexually molested by the license holder of the child care center.
Effective 6:00 p.m. April 9, 2004, the Summary Suspension Order prohibits Marco Zendejas from operating a child care center at 844 Tittabawassee, Saginaw, Michigan, or at any other address or location. Accordingly, he may not accept children for care after that date or time. The order also requires Mr. Zendejas to inform all of the parents of children in his care that his license has been suspended and that he can no longer provide day care.
Mr. Zendejas has held a license to operate a child care center since October 30, 2003. The license was for 30 children.
