Michigan Family Independence Agency Summarily Suspends the Family Day Care Home Registration of Diane Robinson.
The Michigan Family Independence Agency (FIA), Office of Children and Adult Licensing issued an order of summary suspension and notice of intent to revoke the registration of Ottawa County day care family home provider Diane Robinson, 1822 Pleasant Wood Drive, Jenison, Michigan. This action resulted from a recent investigation of the day care family home.
Michigan law defines a day care family home as a private home in which 1 but fewer than 7 minor children are received for care and supervision for periods of less than 24 hours a day, unattended by a parent or legal guardian, except children related to an adult member of the family by blood, marriage, or adoption. Family day care home includes a home that gives care to an unrelated minor child for more than 4 weeks during a calendar year.
The May 11, 2004, findings of the complaint investigation are:
- On May 11, 2004, while in the care of Diane Robinson, a five-month-old infant became limp and unresponsive. The child was admitted to the intensive care unit of Spectrum Health Hospital.
- Medical records indicate that the infant was diagnosed with diffuse cerebral edema and extraaxial hemorrhage. The records also indicate that the findings strongly suggest the possibility of inflicted trauma.
Effective 6 p.m., May 14, 2004, the Summary Suspension Order prohibits Ms. Robinson from operating a day care family home at 1822 Pleasant Wood Drive, Jenison, Michigan, or at any other address or location. Accordingly, she may not accept unrelated children for care after that date or time. The order also requires Ms. Robinson to inform all of the parents of children in her care that her registration has been suspended and that she can no longer provide day care.
Ms. Robinson has held a registration to operate a Family Day Care home since June 5, 1992.
