Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) is the method of issuing benefits to the Department of Human Services (DHS) clients who receive cash and or food assistance benefits. DHS clients are issued a debit card to purchase certain food products and access cash benefits. This debit card is called the Michigan Bridge Card.
DHS clients can use their Bridge card to access their benefits at approximately 9,500 retailers and over 12,000 ATM's within the state.
Training for Bridge card use includes the provision of written materials to every DHS client when they receive a Bridge card. A toll free customer service number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The phone number is 1-888-678-8914, this toll free number also provides services in Spanish and Arabic languages. A person who is hearing-impaired or speech-impaired can use the Michigan Relay Center at 1-800-649-3777.
Contact the customer service toll free number if:
You just received your first card in the mail. Follow the instructions that came with your card to choose a personal identification number (PIN).
Your card is lost or stolen.
You think someone else is using your card.
Your card does not work.
Your forgot or want to change your PIN.
You need to know your food and or cash benefits balance and you cannot find your last store receipt.
You want to know a location nearby to use your card.
