What if I am unable to do my own shopping?

If clients are unable to do their own shopping, they may select a person they trust to be their authorized representative. To obtain a Bridge Card specifically for their authorized representative, the client must contact their DHS Specialist at their local DHS office. This Bridge Card will be mailed to the client's address. This is to ensure the client remains in control of the account. The client may give the card to their authorized representative to shop for them at anytime, or only when the client specifically requests. The client may cancel an authorized representative Bridge Card at anytime by calling the customer service number.

Bridge Cards for authorized representatives will have the client's name and the authorized representative's name printed on it. The authorized representative's name will be followed by the letters "ARFS" (standing for Authorized Representative Food Stamps). The authorized representative will have access to the client’s Food Asistance Program (FAP) benefit account only.
