| EBT Group Homes |
Group homes that have DHS clients as residents have three options with the EBT Program -
- Residents shop for themselves: Many residents of group homes are able to do their own shopping. They may use the Bridge Card and Personal Identification Number (PIN) to shop. The group home may not use this card on the client’s behalf.
- Group Home is an Authorized Representative for the client: The client may elect to have the group home as an authorized representative to do their shopping for them. If the client elects this option, they must contact their DHS specialist to have the group home act as the client’s authorized representative. Once the group home is designated as an authorized representative, a Bridge Card will be mailed to the client. This card will include the authorized representative’s name followed by the letters "ARFS". This card can be given to the group home to use. With this card, the group home will have access to the client’s Food Assistance Program (FAP) benefit account only.
- The group home can become an authorized FNS retailer: Group homes that are approved to participate in the EBT program as an FNS certified retailer will be supplied with the necessary Point-of-Sale (POS) equipment for processing EBT transactions in the group home. This will allow FAP clients to use their Bridge Card to purchase food by swiping their Bridge Card through the home’s POS device. Group homes interested in this option should contact the local DHS office for more details.
