These retailers are either not equipped with POS devices to accept credit or debit cards, or do not choose to use them for the Bridge Card. They are however, authorized by FNS, and they do at least $100 worth of food stamp business a month. Under these circumstances, the State will provide the retailer with free POS equipment. These POS devices will accept the Bridge Card for both cash and food benefit purchases, but will not accept commercial credit or debit cards. The number of POS devices provided will depend on the type of store and the dollar volume of monthly food stamp redemptions. The number will not necessarily equal the number of lanes in the store. In most instances, training and installation instructions will be provided over the phone. Retailers not authorized by FNS are not eligible for free POS devices.
