Kelly Campbell

Photo of Kelly Champbell, the 1997 June Achiever of the Month The 1997 June Achiever of the Month, Kelly Campbell turned to the Tuscola County FIA to help make ends meet when her son was born in 1990. Kelly was raised on public assistance and at the age of sixteen she left home. She met a man who she later married. He threatened and forced her to quit school. Kelly wanted a better life for her son so she divorced her husband in 1994 and successfully completed the EDGE Program through the FIA. In October 1994 she began working at Dairy Queen as a cook. Despite concerns about leaving her son, Kelly secured day care and she utilized public transportation. She also found time to volunteer at the Assault Crisis Center and her church while participating in EDGE. Kelly relocated from Vassar to Caro so she could secure employment within walking distance of her home. She began working at the drive-through window at McDonald’s in November 1995; she is working 30 hours a week. Her case closed due to earnings from employment in October 1995.
