Donald Berryhill

Photo of Donald Berryhill, March 1997 Achiever of the Month The March 1997 Achiever of the Month Award was presented to Donald Berryhill of Bath. Donald began receiving State Disability Assistance in January 1994 after a gunshot wound to his left shoulder, caused by a hunting mishap, left his left arm paralyzed. Doctors told him there was a slim chance he would regain use of his arm, but he did after surgery and extensive therapy. In October 1994 his son was born and he joined the Family Independence Program (FIP) case of the mother of his child. In an effort to improve life for his family he registered for work at the Michigan Employment Security Agency (MESA). In February 1996 he was referred to the Clinton County Job Club where he received one-on-one counseling. Donald secured employment at Barnard Manufacturing. In March 1997 Berryhill began a new job at Midwest Engravers with a higher starting pay and the potential of benefits in the future. He is also working with the Michigan State Housing Development Authority to purchase a home. His FIP case closed in September 1996 due to excess income from employment.
