| Diane Morgan |
The January 1997 Achiever of the Month Award recognized the efforts of Diane Morgan of Allendale. Diane applied for assistance in April 1990 after her husband left her with their three children, no income, and no car. Her rent, heat and utilities were vendored, leaving her with $28.00 a month and food stamps. She became involved in Allendale Love, Inc., a faith-based Project Zero provider. In 1993 she worked as a substitute teacher's aide and cook and a year later she also became a paid assistant to the bus driver. Diane supplemented this income by providing child care in her home. In August 1996, Morgan found a better paying job at Meijer. The FIA assisted her with the purchase of tires and other car repairs. Then, in September of that same year, she got a job working 40 hours per week at Fountain View Retirement Village as a management trainee in housekeeping and is now in charge of six other staff members. She and her children will be moving out of a home they have rented since 1992 to a new home in Allendale. Her FIP case closed in November 1996.
