Mary Johnson

December 1994 Achiever of the Month Award recognized Mary Johnson of Manistee. Ms. Johnson came to the Manistee County Department of Social Services after falling and injuring her shoulder and neck in September 1991. In January of 1994 her doctor released her to limited work but she was not able to return to the restaurant work that she had previously done. At this time Mary attended the Social Contract orientation session at DSS and became a volunteer with the Volunteer Coordinator at the Manistee County Department of Social Services. This led to a part-time position with the Manistee County Senior Center as Program Coordinator which will become full-time in January 1995. Her AFDC case is closed due to employment.
