| Brian Rooney is Deputy Director, Policy and Compliance, for the Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS). Rooney previously worked at the Thomas More Law Center, a public-interest, non-profit, Catholic law firm dedicated to defending traditional family values and religious freedom. He resigned from the law center in January 2010 to run for Congress in Michigan's 7th Congressional District. Rooney received a B.A. in history from Williams College (Williamstown, Mass.) and a J.D. with honors from Florida State University College of Law. An Iraq war veteran, Rooney served in the Marine Corps as defense counsel, chief prosecutor and deputy in-house counsel. Rooney's grandfather, Art Rooney, Sr., founded the Pittsburgh Steelers and his family still owns the Steelers. Several years ago, Brian replaced his father, Patrick Rooney, Sr., on the Pittsburgh Steelers board of directors.
