Non-Relative Foster Parent Licensing

Michigan strives to provide safe, nurturing homes for children entering foster care. To ensure quality foster homes are available for youth entering foster care, the Department of Human Services and its private child-placing agency partners are committed to licensing 1,450 new, non-relative foster homes from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013.

Progress Report

Currently, 1,015 new, non-relative foster homes have been licensed. DHS remains determined to license an additional 435 quality non-relative foster homes by June 30, 2013.
