MiSTITCH* - Obtain Health Insurance for Your Child

Health Insurance for children in Michigan is available from:  
  • Insurance Companies - Families pay for the coverage.  
    Contact information for some of Michigan's private health insurance companies that offer coverage for children. These companies offer a wide variety of coverage at different costs. 

  • Public health insurance for low income families at little cost or no cost.
    The MIChild Program and Healthy Kids Program cover children for:

  •              X-Ray Tests 
  •              Well-Child Visits 
  •              Immunizations 
  •              Prescription Drugs 
  •              Hospital Care 

You can   apply for MIChild and Healthy Kids online   or call toll free 1-888-988-6300.

You can contact one of the following agencies and they will help determine if your family is
eligible for MIChild or  Healthy Kids.  If you are eligible, they will help you complete the application:

                                        Michigan Primary Care Association  - 1-800-752-7268                 
                                       Local Department of Human Services Offices  
 

Once your application is approved, you will be referred to a MIChild/Healthy Kids insurance provider.

 *MiSTITCH (Michigan Strategies to Increase the Children's Health Care) is a federal grant to develop a collaborative plan to increase the number of children receiving health care coverage and medical support in child support cases. The Mi-STITCH workgroup developed a Strategic Plan.                                    

The federal grant ran from October 1, 2009 to December, 31, 2010.
