Michigan Child Care Matters
Michigan Child Care Matters shares topical information regarding young children who are cared for in licensed child care settings with the child care community, parents and other interested persons. The Bureau of Children and Adult Licensing (BCAL) encourages child care providers to make this publication available to the parents of the children in care or to provide them with our internet address so they may view it online.
BCAL has now developed tests based on the content of each issue of MCCM. To receive one clock hour of annual training, you must read all of the home- or center-related articles in three different issues of MCCM and pass the tests associated with those issues during that calendar year. You must maintain your own documentation that you passed by printing a copy of the test results page for each test you pass for your records. You must receive an 80 percent or higher on the test to pass. You can only take a test two times. If you do not pass a test the second time, you will not get credit for that issue of MCCM. Only one clock hour of your annual training requirements can be earned by reading issues of MCCM. To take advantage of this opportunity, just email Colleen Nelson (NelsonC7@michigan.gov) with your name and license number. She will send you a registration number that you will use to register for free at www.classmarker.com/register.
Note: Each individual wishing to receive annual training hours for reading issues of MCCM must register separately. Tests are available for Issue 93 and after.
Michigan Child Care Matters has been available since 1983. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of issues not available online, call 517-373-8300.
