18Michigan Department of Human Services announces new MiCAP food assistance benefits
DHS Director Ismael Ahmed announced Thursday that as many as 80,000 Michigan senior citizens and adults with disabilities could automatically get help with their food budgets next year under a federal pilot project.

10Michigan Heart Gallery 2008 Exhibit in Southfield
Exhibit helps find adoptive families for foster children

The 2008 Michigan Heart Gallery, a touring photo exhibit featuring stirring portraits of 60 Michigan foster children who are waiting to be adopted, is on display at the Franklin Bank in Southfield from Dec. 11 - 21. The photographs in the Heart Gallery were taken by more than 40 professional photographers who donated their time, talent and resources to take the pictures that help capture the spirit of the children in the foster care system.
01Alcona, Iosco County DHS to serve area residents from single office
EAST TAWAS - Residents of Alcona and Iosco counties seeking assistance from the Michigan Department of Human Services will be served by staff at 2145 E. Huron in East Tawas effective Jan. 7, 2009.
