BI Usage
Michigan began using its data warehouse in 1992 in what was then the Department of Social Services. The next year the state implemented the first in the nation Medicaid data warehouse. Since then usage has expanded to a total of 8 agencies with 9,000 users across the state. It has been used for many purposes including fraud detection, health care outreach, epidemiology studies, food assistance error rate reduction, business tax audit selection, foster care management, child support reporting, and homeless policy analysis.
