Contact:  Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

June 2, 2009

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today granted a license to Glacial Energy of Michigan, Inc. as an alternative electric supplier (AES).  The company submitted an application for a license as an AES on March 23.

The MPSC approved the license based on a determination that the company possesses sufficient technical competence to engage in energy transactions, is capable of meeting safety requirements for electric operations, and complies with other lawful obligations.

The MPSC intends to open a separate docket for the company to submit a renewable energy plan, as required by Public Act 295 of 2008.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
