Sadlak Sentencing Highlights OFIR's Partnership with Local Law Enforcement on Investment Crimes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LANSING - Last week, Jeffery Sadlak of Delta Twp. was sentence to five to 30 years in state prison for selling unregistered securities and defrauding Michigan investors of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) securities and insurance investigators worked closely with the Lansing Twp. Police Department and Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings to ultimately bring Sadlak to justice. Sadlak was also ordered to pay over $480,000 in restitution to his victims.

“Aggressive work by state regulators, in active partnership with local police and prosecutors, results in better consumer protection and helps prevent investment scams,” OFIR Commissioner Ken Ross said. “I want to thank Stuart Dunnings and the Lansing Township Police for their work to protect Michigan consumers by putting this crook behind bars.”

Last year, OFIR held a free training for Michigan law enforcement officials, “Securities 101: Recognizing Securities Products and Investment Crimes,” that helped them identify the most common types of securities fraud, how these schemes are structured and marketed and how OFIR’s Securities Section can assist them in their efforts. OFIR will be hosting additional law enforcement training sessions, along with a similar training for local prosecutors, early next year.
