MEMORANDUM
TO: All Insurer Appointing Authorities, Insurance Prelicensing Education
Schools, and Other Interested Persons
FROM: Dhiraj N. Shah Acting Commissioner of Insurance
SUBJECT: Insurance Bureau Bulletin 90-8 -- State of Michigan Insurance
Licensing and Examination Candidate Handbook
December 7, 1990
Enclosed you will find a copy of the State of Michigan Insurance
Licensing and Examination Candidate Handbook. This document is released
as Insurance Bureau Bulletin 90-8 -- effective immediately. In the
Candidate Handbook are set forth a summary of all licensing requirements
for the various individual licensing categories issued by the State
of Michigan Insurance Bureau. Candidates and appointing authorities
should review this book carefully to ascertain the current procedures
and requirements for licensure in the State of Michigan. To the extent
that procedures set forth in Bulletin 90-8 differ from procedures
set forth in any previous edition of the Candidate Handbook, or any
other bulletin or publication of this Bureau, Bulletin 90-8 supersedes
those earlier publications and pronouncements.
Please note that certification by appointing authorities and sponsors
of applicants for licensure in the State of Michigan will indicate
that the sponsor or appointing authority has read Insurance Bureau
Bulletin 90-8, has investigated the qualifications of the candidate,
and certifies that the sponsored candidate meets all indicated requirements,
restrictions, or prerequisites. Our goal is to provide prompt, fair
and meaningful licensing services to the Michigan insurance industry.
Reviewing this publication carefully before contacting the Insurance
Bureau or its testing contractor (Assessment Systems, Inc.) should
answer most questions about any aspect of the licensing or testing
process. Your continued cooperation is appreciated.
