In April 2003, Michigan joined state, federal and stock exchange regulators in announcing the historic Wall Street research analyst global settlement, totaling $1.4 billion. The joint taskforce of state regulators of NASAA (North American Securities Administrators Association), the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission), NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) and NASD (National Association of Securities Dealers) worked diligently to bring closure to this matter and to ultimately restore investor confidence in the capital markets to 85 million investors. The goal of the global settlement is to bring the Main Street investor back to Wall Street.
