What is the pre-registration education requirement for a mortgage loan officer registrant? |
 |
- At least 24 hours of live classroom instruction in Michigan by an instructor approved by the Commissioner.
- Introductory course is in residential mortgage lending.
- At least 3 hours of the live classroom instruction concerns State and Federal laws and regulations governing residential mortgage lending, which content is approved by the Commissioner.
- Exception: There is no pre-registration education requirement for an individual that has been a loan officer for 4½ of the previous 5 years.

What is the Continuing education requirement for a mortgage loan officer registrant?
|

- At least 6 hours of instruction in a course or courses relevant to the mortgage lending industry.
- Of the 6 hours of instruction, at least 1.5 hours related to legal and regulatory compliance, and at least 1 hour related to ethics and fraud prevention.
- May be conducted by a live instructor or may be conducted by electronic means (the internet, digital broadcast, or satellite network). Course completion by a loan officer registrant must be confirmed if it is conducted by electronic means.
- Course must be provided by a person approved by the Commissioner.

If I am an education or examination testing provider, how do I apply to provide these services for mortgage loan officer applicants and registrants, and who do I contact? |
 |
All applicants for loan officer pre-education, continuation education loan officer testing will need to contact the Mortgage Industry Advisory Board once it is established. The format to apply will be provided upon the establishment of the Board.

If I am a fingerprint provider, how do I apply to provide these services for mortgage loan officer applicants and registrants, and who do I contact? |
 |
All fingerprint and background investigation providers who want to provide such services for Licensees and Registrants of loan officers will need to contact the Mortgage Industry Advisory Board once it is established. The format to apply will be provided upon the establishment of the Board.
