The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today granted Samson Resources Company authority to construct and operate the Clear Lake Pipeline.
The proposed pipeline will consist of approximately one mile of 3.5-inch steel pipeline commencing at the Samson Clear Lake central processing facility in Montmorency Township and proceeding to interconnect with an existing pipeline system owned and operated by Ward Lake Energy in Montmorency Township in Montmorency County.
The pipeline will be used to efficiently transport natural gas to market by way of the existing gas transmission system.
Samson Resources Company, headquartered in Tulsa, Okla., requested approval to construct and operate the Clear Lake Pipeline on Nov. 30.
The pipeline will meet the requirements of the Michigan Gas Safety standards if constructed, tested and operated as proposed.
The Commission concluded that the pipeline will serve the public convenience and necessity.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
