News Release

OCTOBER 16, 2006 - Department of Labor & Economic Growth Director Robert W. Swanson announced today that the Michigan Talent Bank help desk hours have been extended to better serve jobseekers and employers.

The Michigan Talent Bank, www.michworks.org, is the state's premiere online job matching system. The site allows employers to post job openings and conduct searches for qualified job applicants and job seekers to post resumes and search jobs. DLEG staff is now available 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday to answer questions about the use of Talent Bank by calling toll-free at 1-888-253-6855 or via email at mtbhelp@michigan.gov.

"We've had a lot of positive feedback from employers and jobseekers using the help line so we extended the hours from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays to further improve our customer service options, " Swanson said. "Currently we have more than 46,000 job openings posted on the Talent Bank and average 15,000 new job postings a month. If you are looking for new job or career advancement, you should visit the Talent Bank today to find the job you've been looking for in Michigan."

The Michigan Talent Bank has won numerous national and state technology awards since its launch in 1998. The website recently underwent a makeover to give it a more contemporary look. Customers will love the new look and features, which include drop down menus, sample resumes and job listings, job fair listings and internship searches.

Swanson said, "The Talent Bank boasts a 94% satisfaction rating among employer users and an 88% satisfaction rate among job seekers. Best of all it's free!"
