DECEMBER 12, 2006- The Michigan Commission on Spanish-Speaking Affairs (COSSA) has moved to the Department of Labor & Economic Growth Executive Office.
DLEG Director Robert W. Swanson said, "COSSA is now officially part of the DLEG Executive Office and Leadership Council to reflect the important role of Spanish-speaking people in our state government."
The Commission on Spanish-Speaking Affairs was created in 1975 to serve Michigan's growing Spanish-speaking population which is today the second-largest and fastest-growing minority group in Michigan. The Commission is made up of 15 individuals appointed by the Governor to develop policies and plans to serve the needs of Michigan's Spanish-speaking people.
Effective Dec. 11, 2006, COSSA's offices are located at 611 W. Ottawa in Lansing. Mail should be addressed to COSSA at P.O. Box 30004, Lansing MI 48909. The phone and fax numbers remain the same, ph: (517) 373-8339 and fax: (517) 373-0176.
