November 14, 2007 .Media representatives are invited to attend the keynote address given by Keith W. Cooley, Director of the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth (DLEG) at the 32nd Annual Conference of the Michigan Association for Adult and Continuing Education (MAACE). Director Cooley's keynote is "Michigan's Renaissance Begins with You". He will discuss how the state's newest initiative "No Worker Left Behind" is leading Michigan's Renaissance by providing thousands of displaced workers with news skills training needed to transition to new careers, and helping create the transformation to lifelong learning that is so vital to Michigan's economic future.
The theme of the two-day event is "A Critical Piece of the Puzzle - Adult Education in Michigan's Future". The statewide conference brings together educators who work with adult learners and presents strategies for effectively educating them.
MAACE, established in 1954, provides professional development, support, and research to adult educators in Michigan, cultivates lifelong learning, and promotes the practice of adult education as a vital contribution to the lifelong educational development of individuals.
