The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a modified version of the revised Gas Safety Standards.
The MPSC on June 5 sought permission from the State Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules to revise rules governing gas pipeline safety to incorporate existing federal standards into the Michigan rules. It subsequently issued an order seeking public comments on the proposed revisions.
Both Consumers Energy and Michigan Consolidated Gas Company submitted written comments. The Commission made minor changes to the revised gas safety standards, based on these comments.
The approved modified revised gas safety standards now go to the Legislative Service Bureau and the SOAHR for their formal approvals.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
