June 18, 2009 − The Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) will hold its regular board meeting on Friday, June 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Lansing at the Victor Building, 3rd Floor, Room A/B, 201 N. Washington (at Ottawa Street). The meeting is open to the public and will be of interest to people who are blind or visually impaired, their family members and friends, and anyone interested in learning more about the state- and federally funded services provided throughout the state by the Michigan Commission for the Blind.
The morning portion of the meeting will feature a report on the June 23 Braille-A-Thon at the State Capitol. In the afternoon, the agenda will include a panel presentation on Postsecondary Options for Students in Transition by MCB staff and student Leatrice Fullerton. The afternoon presentation will focus on an overview of student assessment, an overview of the College Prep Program, a preliminary report from the MCB College Policy Review Team, and a student's perspective.

Individuals attending the meeting are requested to refrain from using heavily scented personal care products in order to enhance accessibility for everyone. The commission's five-member policy board, appointed by the governor, oversees MCB programs throughout Michigan.
