The Credit Union Division, Michigan Financial Institutions Bureau,
has received it annual accreditation from the National Association
of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS).
Following a rigorous examination of the unit, the NASCUS Performance
Standards Committee concluded that the Michigan Credit Union Division
meets all criteria necessary to fulfill its statutory responsibility
to charter, examine, supervise, and regulate the 323 credit unions
chartered under the laws of the State of Michigan.
Accreditation by NASCUS is "tangible evidence of the Financial
Institutions Bureau's commitment to a high level of expertise in
the field of depository institution regulation." remarked FIB
Commissioner Patrick M. McQueen. "Michigan's credit union examiners
are some of the most highly trained, seasoned talent in the nation."
McQueen said.
The Financial Institutions Bureau is the primary regulator of
Michigan's state-chartered banks, credit unions, savings banks,
and over 4,000 other licensed lenders.
