OCTOBER 05, 2000 - The medical license of Basel Abdulbaset Al-Kahil M.D., formerly of Cadillac, has been summarily suspended by the Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services (CIS) due to allegations of inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature involving three patients or the parents of minor patients.
It is alleged that during physical exams involving women, Dr. Al-Kahil performed inappropriate exams and made inappropriate comments of a sexual nature.
Following an investigation of the allegations involving Dr. Al-Kahil’s inappropriate conduct with patients, CIS summarily suspended his license. It is believed that Dr. Al-Kahil has fled the state and may have fled the country. The CIS Bureau of Health Services orders a summary suspension when it believes the public’s health, safety and welfare warrant emergency action. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Dr. Al-Kahil’s suspended medical license.
