BATMAN, which stands for Bureau Application Tracking Management, is the new applicant tracking system linked to the MAXXAR Corporation computer system used in the
CIS Office of Health Services (OHS). It was developed to help the OHS Licensing Division respond more readily to applicants who contact the office regarding the status of their applications.
"The growing use of BATMAN is a win-win situation for everyone," said CIS Director Kathleen Wilbur. "Because it is accessible 24 hours a day, applicants can check on their license status at their convenience. By providing answers to the most frequently asked licensing questions, BATMAN also frees up licensing staff to handle other inquiries."
When the OHS Licensing Division initially receives an application for a health professional license, the pertinent data is entered into BATMAN, which then generates a letter to the applicant giving a personal identification number (PIN) and a separate telephone number to call. By calling this automated number and entering the PIN number, MAXXAR will tell applicants if any additional information is required, the date they were approved for licensure, or the date they were approved to take an examination.
Currently, there are nearly 300,000 licensed health professionals in Michigan. "With approximately 17,000 annual licensing applications, our goal is to provide the public with efficient service in a timely fashion," said Wilbur. "BATMAN and MAXXAR are helping to do just that."
