DECEMBER 03, 2003 - The Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services (CIS) has summarily suspended the medical license of Dewundra Dayananda, M.D. The CIS Bureau of Health Services orders a summary suspension when it believes that the public’s health, safety and welfare warrant emergency action.
On October 16, 2003, Dayananda was charged with three felony counts of Unlawfully Prescribing Controlled Substances in the 51st Judicial District Court of Oakland County, after Waterford Township Police conducted an undercover investigation in which Dayananda issued prescriptions for controlled substances in exchange for money, without conducting a physical examination.
On November 20, 2003, CIS issued an Order of Summary Suspension concerning Dayananda’s license. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Dayananda’s medical license.
